Adornments: Fibulae / Belt Buckles

For fixing some garments, Romans use fibulae, a metal pin similar to a safety pin in various shapes and sizes, with different mechanisms to close the pin and to hold the garment. In Lucus the most common types are annular or omega fibulae, very common in the Northeast. Among them there are sometimes hinge fibulae, the aucissa model. Rarer are enamel fibulae, a very beautiful model and very delicately made.

To complement garments, there are also brooches or belt buckles, whose style and technical features help to date them.
