Epigraphy: Honorific
The honorific inscriptions were mainly dedicated to the Emperor or imperial persons of importance. The honorific epigraphy from Lucus Augusti confirms this. We gathered the epigraphy testimony of three monoliths, one of them entirely complete, relating to the founding of the city. All of them display a common epigraphic text, which is a dedication from Legatus Paullus Fabius Maximus to Emperor Augustus, founder of the city. Thanks to the existence of these epigraphs we can date the foundation of the city between 15-13 BC. These inscriptions are also one of the oldest samples of worship to the Emperor, in North East Hispania.
