| Sculpture: Statuary |
|
There are not many sculptures, either in stone or in bronze, and also they are so poorly preserved to be able to appreciate their artistic quality. Stone, granite or marble statuary are the most common ones; the represented themes show the cultured side of provincial artworks, following very distinctive Roman models. These works become models of the official arts, unlike the reliefs, where we can appreciate the popular arts. The examples of bronze statuary are small pieces, likely froma domestic environment, as they are representations of protective deities that occupied an important place in the home.
