Steles or funerary reliefs are a trend in the popular provincial arts but, also, they represent some of the best examples of the cultured arts and artwork of the north east region. They can be grouped depending on what they represent: simple steles with human figures, bifronte steles and those that simply have an austral or geometrical decoration. Amongst the simple steles that of Crecenteis of particular interest (San Pedro de Mera, Lugo). In Lucus and its region the bifronte steles are remarkable, with decoration of scenes and human figures, all of them from the same workshop or production centre that would have been in operation from the Third to the Fourth centuries A.D.
