| Metalwork: Domestic instruments |
|
A large number of objects can be included in this section, some of them are very difficult to identify; including from simple ironmongery that were part of furniture (apart from metal pieces used in edges or corners and knobs or handles, some furniture had bronze legs), to pieces relating todoors and windows, such as keys and locks made of bronze or iron. Other domestic objects such as knives and razors, with different shapes and sizes, of bronze or iron, that Romans used for very various activities, such as in the kitchen, in the butcher's or religious ceremonies. Less common are the boxes to protect the personal seals that guaranteed the inviolability of private correspondence.
