Metalwork: Tools
In Lucus we find a wide range of tools for very different uses and crafts, from agricultural tools (hoes, axes, sickles), construction tools (pickaxes, hammers, wedges), carpenter tools (adzes, axes, nails) and a large number of pieces, in different stages of preservation, without a defined and clear purpose. Iron tools prevail amongst the tools. It is relatively easy to find trails of manufacture, thanks to the findings of iron scum or small smelting ovens. However the bad preservation of the tool fragments in most cases makes it difficult to recognize and establish their use. Some small objects, made of bronze, such as hooks, were daily tools used by fishermen in the Río Miño, as fishing was another economic activity.
