Adornments

Romans acquired a very excessive taste for jewellery, perfumes, lacrymatories, precious torches or anything else that helped to highlight their attire. This was not only outof necessity or taste, but also had a deeper meaning as a sign of social status, civil status and age.Adornments, such as rings, bracelets and necklaces were worn profusely. Most were of cheap bronze or sometimes glass.

In Lucus Augusti there are no valuable jewellery and gold and silver objects are rare. Nevertheless, the collections of rings, fibulae (brooches), hairpins, bracelets and others jewels are very relevant, as they indicate, despite being modest, those more frequently worn.
